An Important Message for All...

loading ... Yesterday hubby and I were getting ready to leave to go out for a date and we had the radio on....Focus on the Family came on and lo and behold the guest was one of my all time faves, Dr. Richard Swenson! I jumped for joy like a child when my favorite Christmas special was coming on! Dr. Swenson is the author of Margin. If you haven't read Margin I would definitely recommend this book.

Dr. Swenson is a medical doctor who has a message of simplicity and truly enjoying life to the fullest for the Lord. His book has helped me greatly in the past decade in keeping the proper perspective in life in general.

So many are bolting here and there, seeking this and that, the things they seek can even be good things...But even too much of a good thing is not always a good thing. I doubt many people on their deathbeds will say,

"Wow, I wish I had that new boat, or I wish I had caught those shoes on sale or.....

I'm so joyful my children saw that my focus was on academics before the sweet things of the Lord so everyone will know how smart we were..."

NO. We will be concerned or should be considered with the Eternal and how much quality time we spent with our families.

If nothing else you must hear this message, make sure it's the broadcast for July 13, 2010
Living with the End in Mind.
By Dr. Richard Swenson

(Please feel free to mute the music on my player at the bottom of the page)

I noticed this is part II. So obviously there must be a Part I on the 12th. : )

Hope you all will enjoy this series as much as I am. If you think you are too busy to listen to this message then you probably especially need to listen to it. ; ) Everyone please take the time to listen, you won't regret it. : )

Have a blessed week, stay sweet keep that margin in place. Let's measure things by Eternity.

Feel free to visit me too at thats-italian.blogspot for poignant thoughts that represent Dr. Swenson's message pretty well from my life as well as a wonderful Swedish cake recipe from an old friend. Hope to be adding a new entry there soon.... I'm pondering posting my mother in law's Italian Wedding Ring cookie recipe. We just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. : )

I read that link on Calvinism. I knew all that stuff about him before; it is available to read in many old volumes. Terrible.

Great message Amelia.
I had trouble getting the message up from the site. I had to google it and was able to pull it up from there.

The thing that he spoke about that stood out for me was about the family and how it is such a threat in today's society. I could'nt agree more. Our family unit is under attack and I am afraid that we are the cause of it.
Thanks for posting this.
Have a blessed week.

Thank you Amanda. I agree with you, it seems so many are wearing "busyness" as a badge of honor these days, and in our area even the homeschool moms. So sad. So terribly sad. Lately I've even sat with a few moms who live in the country and it was so apparent that Babylon had entered into the heart, they were talking about running their children here and there to this class and that class... It amazes me how that busyness just eeks in it seems. We need to be so on guard with it all.

Blessings to you Amanda. : )

CONGRATULATIONS on your 30th Anniversary! That's wonderful! I know you will have many more years together in the Lord.

I am interested in that article on Calvin I read about in your comments above. Is it in a previous post? I will have to go look for it!
